Empiric Institute is a not-for-profit Impact Research Organisation.

We focus on areas where traditional models fall short — helping develop and deliver better ways to design, run, and scale clinical trials, especially for neglected conditions and communities.

We also build research methods and tools that are shared publicly, enabling others to run more efficient and impactful trials.

Our purpose is to promote the prevention and control of diseases in human beings, with a focus on health needs often overlooked by commercial research.

We focus on:

  • Adaptive platform trials that test multiple treatments at once

  • Smarter design tools that speed up and improve trial planning

  • Embedded research that’s faster, cheaper, and more relevant

  • High-impact interventions overlooked by commercial research

  • Underserved communities and rare or neglected conditions

Our Structure and Collaborative Approach

Empiric Institute is a not-for-profit public company limited by guarantee. We are a registered health promotion charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC).

We’re part of a broader ecosystem transforming how clinical trials are designed and delivered.

Through a formal partnership with Empiric Health Pty Ltd, we access advanced research tools, automation software, design expertise — helping us to deliver high-quality, public-interest research more efficiently and affordably.

This collaboration is governed by a Shared Services and Collaboration Agreement. All services are delivered pro bono or at cost, ensuring no profit is made from the Institute’s research activities.

This ensures everything we do stays aligned with our charitable mission.
